Vignoble Guillaume
Vignoble Guillaume is one of France’s most important vine nurseries, producing vine material for numerous French and other European wine regions. In addition to this business, they also produce wine from the numerous different varieties they cultivate, around the village of Charcenne, in the Franche-Comté region of eastern France. There are a mere 120 hectares of vines in the entire region; Guillaume owns 45 of them (100 acres). Current proprietor Xavier Guillaume is producing classic, well-priced French wines in a style reminiscent of the neighboring Burgundy region.
Vignoble Guillaume is now in the fourth century of its existence, founded during the French Revolution, and remains a family-owned business. The Franche-Comté region is located an hour east of Dijon (Burgundy) and just north of the Jura wine region. The soils are similar, with a predominance of clay, marl and limestone, and the climate, moderate continental. It has every asset required for producing good wines.
Guillaume grows a huge range of varieties to meet the needs of their nursery clients. As a result, an unexpectedly broad range of wines is produced; everything from Savagnin to Pinot Grigio and Merlot is available. We import the Pinot Noir, a wine elevated by its purity and charm. It is a wine for everyday drinking, full of supple fruit and attractive red cherry flavors.
